• AnonymousMe & my fiancé love Alameda & really want to move back thereafter we get married in the fall. How far will your commute be from Alameda? How far will your significant others commute be? Just trying to figure out if the commute is worth it to move back.
  • Hi! I will probably take the ferry from Alameda to SF, so it’ll be about a ten minute drive to the ferry terminal, 20 minutes on the ferry, and 10 minutes to walk to my office — so about 40 minutes in total. However, I could take BART from Oakland to my office — take would take 10 minutes driving to the station and 15 on BART for a grand total of 25 minutes

Christopher is a flight attendant, so his commute is a little different. It will take him about 10 minutes to get to OAK airport, 45 minutes to SFO, and 50 minutes to SJC.

Christopher & I went to further the application process for the apartment that we want in Alameda. There are two other applicants also vying for the lease, but I’m still hopeful that we might get it. The property manager should be deciding on Monday, so we’ll find out then.

It’s tiny and in a really old cottage, but I just got the feeling that this apartment would be perfect for us. I am desperately wishing that somehow it works out.

General Life Update:

Wow, I haven’t been on here in a while. My queue even ran out, and that never happens! So, uh, here’s what’s been going on in my life:

  • I love my job, but the commute is destroying me. I leave the house at 6am and usually don’t get home until past 8pm. It’s about 2 hours each way because of rush hour traffic. The only bright side to this is that I’ve read 3 novels in the past week, just for pleasure.
  • I got to write for POPSUGAR’s Food site this entire week. If you know me, you know I love to eat, so this was basically the best gig ever! Here’s my author page so far, if any of you are interested in keeping up with my work. Some of the assignments this week included original food photography, which was really fun for me.
  • Christopher and I are in the process of finding a place in the Bay Area. Neither of us like living in this weird in-between phase, and we’re anxious to start our life together! We meet with a real estate agent tomorrow in a town called Alameda, which is only a little bit outside of San Francisco. We both love it because it’s filled with gorgeous Victorian homes, has tons of dog-friendly beaches, and is commutable for both of our jobs. Wish us luck that the place we’ve applied to works out!

That’s about it! I haven’t had much spare time to post/breathe/sleep/think during the past two months, so please forgive my internet absence.
